This tutor accompanies four BBC Television broadcasts Hold down a Chord, Fingerpicking, in which John Pearse teaches a variety of melody-picking styles originally developed by famous American folk guitarists. These styles which are basically very easy to learn will show the beginner how to enliven his songs with melody picking and help him to play solo guitar.

The series is produced for Television by Victor Poole.

John Pearse (12 September 1939 – 31 October 2008) was a British guitarist, folk singer and music educator, who came to prominence in the 1960s presenting the popular BBC2 television guitar tuition series, Hold Down a Chord.
